I'm so excited to share that I'll be backstage at Denver Fashion Week this fall, doing makeup every single night of the week. It's my first Denver Fashion Week, and I can't wait.
Denver Fashion Week, produced by 303 Magazine, kicks off on Saturday, November 7. Each night has its own themed runway show, from Streetwear & Sneakers on opening night to Couture closing out the week. It's a huge celebration of fashion in our city, and I'm honored to be part of it.
Who I'll be working with
I'm part of one big hair and makeup team this season, and I'll be creating looks for designers and brands including:
- SIC
- LittleGrey
- Broadway Bazaar Vintage
- GDC
- Giulianelli Designs
- Tyne Hall
For SIC and LittleGrey, I'll be doing both hair and makeup.
Every designer brings their own vision to the runway, and our job backstage is to bring that vision to life on every model, quickly and consistently, before they step out under the lights.
What runway and bridal have in common
Backstage at a fashion show, timing, consistency and staying calm under pressure are everything. Looks have to be finished on schedule, every model has to match the designer's vision, and there's no time to panic when something changes at the last minute.
Those are the exact same skills I bring to every wedding morning. When I'm doing hair and makeup for a bride and her whole party, I'm keeping a timeline, making sure every look is camera-ready, and keeping the room calm so the bride can enjoy getting ready. I can't wait to put them to work backstage, and to bring everything I learn on the runway back to my brides.
